X-Setup Pro 9.2.100 For Free

X-Setup Pro 9.2.100 should be considered as final release. It will not work on Windows 7 but will work on  Win9x/NT/200x/XP/Vista. The support for obsolete OSs is pretty good but I do not think if somebody is still using  any of Win9x/NT/200x. It is available as installer and portable versions (USB n U3).

Well, Major Geek said:

X-Setup Pro is the ultimate in system configuration or tweaking as some people would say. It covers all types of options and has many useful features - for more information please read the rest of this section or browse to http://www.x-setup.net/

X-Setup Pro is not yet another Windows Hacker; it is the ultimate tool for black belt system tuning and tweaking, running on Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000, ME, XP and 2003 Server.

From simple boot options up to server settings and hardware settings, internet settings or Office options, X-Setup Pro allows you to change nearly 1800 (!!) settings with some simple button clicks. This makes X-Setup Pro the most complete hacker/tweaking utility ever available!

Because these settings change often and fast, X-Setup Pro uses XML-based plugins - they are very small (3-6 kB) so updating them is easy too. X-Setup Pro can download updated or new plug-ins directly from the X-Setup Pro web site. Best of all, you can always view the source for any plug-in! And with the also available information on our website you can even create your own plugins or wizards and use them in X-Setup Pro.

With this release, you'll also get the new X-Setup Pro Restore Log. No matter how many changes you have made (either by using a plugin or a wizard) the Restore Log can all restore them to their original values with two simple mouse clicks. This feature works completely independently from the "Windows XP Restore Points" and can therefore be used on any Windows system X-Setup Pro supports (from Windows 95 up to Windows Server 2003). No other tweaking software offers you this!

In case you wish to lockdown a different user on the same computer, Registry Loading will be your best friend. Simply select “Load user registry” from within X-Setup Pro and you can apply all tweaks and settings X-Setup Pro supports to a different user without fearing to lock you out yourself. Securing or locking-down your computer for colleagues or your kids has never been easier!

With the BartPE Enabler Tool, you can use X-Setup Pro on a bootable CD-ROM created by the freely available BartPE system. This means, you can put X-Setup Pro on a CD, boot this CD on any computer and tweak the settings without even installing X-Setup Pro. This can also be a huge help for repairing a misbehaving system.

Network administrator will love X-Setup Pro Recording. Simply turn recording on, change the settings you want and it generates a *.REG file on the fly that can be deployed to thousands of computers without installing X-Setup Pro.

Although it offers lots of features, X-Setup Pro is extremely easy to use. It has an Explorer-like look and the famous back and next buttons you already know from your Internet browser. Plus, X-Setup Pro offers wizards that assist you when changing the configuration - there has never been an easier way to hack your Windows!

Get Free:

The license is shown publically on X-Setup Pro website. This means it is open invitation for all to get it legally. The license is XSA092-11TA9R-8K12YT. You can get some more info at http://www.x-setup.net/.

Download all three version from the following web addresses. Use the license mentioned above to register the X-Setup Pro 9.2.100.

Customize Your Comodo Product's Skin!

Latest version of the products of Comodo, such as Comodo Time Machine and the 4th version of Comodo Internet Security and Comodo Firewall, introduced many improved features. To the average users, one of the visibly notable difference is the new user interface, which spots a red color and interactive interface. I like the new user interface of Comodo since i am a GUI fan as always, but although Comodo did offer a setting where we can change the skin, the unfortunate thing is that the official website for Comodo does not have a skin library. A simple search using Google also came up nothing of the sort.

The original skin for Comodo products, predominantly in red color.

I recently stumbled across a file shared by a user called quanzi1507 and thought i'd share it here. It is a 391 KB ZIP archive which contains three theme files for skinning Comodo products. They are simple-colored theme files which are in Blue, Green and Gray color, but its quite enough to ill-customize your Comodo products.

After you download the ZIP archive, simply extract the files to anyway on your PC, and copy all the contents to a folder called 'Themes' in your Comodo Program Files installation path. To activate the themes in Comodo's GUI, you'll need to exit and restart your Comodo products.

Incidentally, i also discovered that one of my PCs lacked a dedicated firewall. Maybe i should keep Comodo Firewall for a change? (LOLX)

Enjoy skinning!!!

DesktopOK Allows You To Customize Icons' Layouts Without Hassle!

Anyone know about Desktop Icon Toy? To put it simply, it is a desktop icon manager capable of arranging your desktop icon layout, inject some animation in it and edit the icon's text, such as making it disappear completely or using a different color scheme. All is well for this software...except for the pitiful fact that it is not a freeware...

GUI of DesktopOK. Try out the 'Punch the Icons' feature: It is pretty cool!

DesktopOK is the perfect alternative to Desktop Icon Toy...and it's free, by the way! It is developed oy by the same author, Nenad Hrg who also developed Q-Dir, a lightweight files & folders manager. As with all stuffs developed by Nenad, DesktopOK is light as feather, is portable (no installations required), have a small file size and offers an exciting list of features; some of which Desktop Icon Toy also have.

What makes DesktopOK different from Desktop Icon Toy, though, is that it can run in the background and take "snapshots" of your desktop icons according to a user-defined schedule, for example every few hour or so or even before shutdown occurs. Incredibly, it can also be configured to take these snapshots only if it detects a change on the icon layout. DesktopOK is compatible with all modern OS (by that i mean from Windows 95 all the way up until Windows 7!) and is available for 32-bit as well as natively for 64bit systems.

Here are a simple list of features for DesktopOK:
  •   Save your favorite icon locations for each screen resolution.
  •   Each user can then have his own arrangement.
  •   Minimises to tray area for easy access.
  •   Launch at Windows startup.
  •   Autosave
  •   Portable
So if you're a desktop customization geek and would like to mess with your icons' layout, do give DesktopOK a try. I'm not saying that Desktop Icon Toy is not good, but when you have DesktopOK which is portable, compatible with all OS and is absolutely FREE, who would even bother looking at Desktop Icon Toy in the first place? (LOLX)

Download DesktopOK HERE or the unicode version HERE. Note that in Windows XP & 2000, the unicode version is always better and more stable.

Visit Nenad Hrg's official website for more info

Customize Facebook Appearances With Firefox Through Stylish Or GreaseMonkey

For Mozilla Firefox users only:

Facebook keeps its user interface and layout pretty standardized, meaning that all users will be given the same GUI and layout, including the colors and background applied. Well, one of my criticism of Facebook is exactly this; although it offers an abundance of features which i appreciate very much, i could not understand why Facebook won't allow us to apply graphic customization to our own page when other social networking sites like MySpace and Friendster could.

Here's a tip for Mozilla Firefox users who are bored with the lack of graphical customization on Facebook: They can use either Stylish or GreaseMonkey, both user script manager specially for Firefox, to change their Facebook's graphical appearance. It won't result in a slower loading of Facebook's webpages nor would it affect any available features on Facebook!

For novice users, user script is one of the key elements in web design and one which determines what a web page is supposed to have/do/show. So quite simply, if we want to change Facebook's graphic appearance, all we have to do is to edit the script of the web page itself! Problem is, scripting is complicated and will easily bore most users out. Fortunately, there are those who have learned, and are willing, to create tonnes of user scripts that will change the appearance of Facebook online...and all we have to do is use Stylish or GreaseMonkey, as previously stated!

Let's get started:

1. Visit the Firefox Addon Site and install the add-on 'Stylish' or the add-on 'GreaseMonkey'. You will be prompted to restart Firefox.

2. After Firefox restarted, visit the website UserStyles.org, where many user scripts writers have generously posted tonnes of user scripts which include scripts for Facebook.

3. Browse through the library of user scripts for Facebook and select an appearance you like. On your right hand side, you'll notice that there are two options; one is for Stylish, the other for GreaseMonkey. Choose the 'Install with Stylish' button if you installed the Stylish add-on; choose 'install as a user script' button if you installed the 'GreaseMonkey' add-on.

4. Visit Facebook and see the changes! Here's a sample of a customized Facebook Login Page using the Greasemonkey add-on:

5.  Scripts installed as Stylish is manageable from the Stylish Menu. On your Firefox toolbar, find Tools>Add-ons>Extensions>Stylish.

Similarly, you can install as many scripts as possible and manage them from the GreaseMonkey addon's Options menu. On your Firefox toolbar, find Tools>Addons>Extensions>GreaseMonkey and select the 'Option' button. This is what you will get:

From here, you can manage your scripts easily: disable or enable scripts, add or delete scripts and many more!

The one thing that bugs this customization method though, is that it only allows users to enjoy the customized appearance on the PC where either one of the two add-ons are installed within Firefox. Another similar problem is that other users will not be able to enjoy your customized appearance elsewhere even if they do have the add-ons installed; all they see out of your Profile page is still the same old standardized background. Nevertheless, if used for personal enjoyment, the scripts really work on all Facebook sites, including users' Home page, Profile page and even Application page. A little tip for all: it even works on the Lite version of Facebook as shown below!

Thank you, Firefox, for the addon. You make Facebook more beautiful now!

NOTE: It took hard work and effort for those script authors to write user scripts and share it to us, so if you like the user script and would like to support them through money, do make a tiny donation at their respective user script pages!

Change the Color of your Windows Vista/7 Navigation Button with Vista-7 Nav Button Colorizor

Users of Windows Vista and 7 will know this, that the navigation button available in Windows Explorer are predominantly or shall i say, all are in blue color. And believe it or not, some people may have a problem with blue. But then changing the color of the navigation button is no novice's task. Users will have to dig deep into the Windows settings and edit some system files. In other words, it is risky, troublesome and time-wasting.

Thanks to a genius called vasanrulez lurking around at DeviantART, we now have a tool called Vista-7 Nav Button Colorizer freely available to us all. This little tool simplifies the effort of having to edit system files by providing a friendly GUI for users to adjust the color of their Windows' navigation button. It works on 32-bit version of Vista and 7 only, but then 64-bit support are soon to come.

There are some common drawbacks you can expect from a new tool such as this. Firstly, Vasanrulez has warned us that some antivirus may took the tool as a malware which obviously is just a false positive. Also, you can expect some bugs and stuffs, though fixes and additional features will be coming our way.

For now, it might not be an attractive tool to download yet, but i reckon when vasanrulez iron out most of the bugs aside from adding supports and features, Vista-7 Nav Button Colorizer will soon hit big time. Interested users may want to follow the development at vasanrulez's DeviartART site where he host the tool.

Visit Vista-7 Nav Button Colorizer at DeviantART.com.

ASCOMP Backup Maker v6.001 [New Release], Synchredible v2.4 [Update], Secure Eraser v3.1 [Update] Free For Private Use

ASCOMP Software GmbH has a new release of  their main software product Backup Maker from v5.5 to v6.001 and this new release is also free for home users (Private Use) like the previous one. If you remember, In September 2009, I have already shared that ASCOMP Software GmbH is offering BackUp Maker v5.5, Synchredible v2.3, Secure Eraser v3.0 free for home users. They have also updated their other two main software: Synchredible v2.4 and Secure Eraser v3.1. These two software are also free for home users (Private use).

There is no difference between Standard Editions and Professional Editions except you are not allowed to use Standard Edition commercially. For commercial use, you need to buy same saftware.

You may be confused when visiting ASCOMP web site because of the contradiction in statements that at order page private users have to pay but at download page these software are shown as freeware. When you will install, you will see in main window Freeware for Private use. So, what is the difference between Private Use, Home Use and Personal Use? Whatever, these software are free for all these three uses.

Because of shortage of time, I was not able to review these software at all. So, if you would like, you can share your views.

Oh, I forgot to tell you once again that I might not be able to write articles as frequently as I have written in past era. You have noticed that I am already writing with delays. I am becoming more and more busy. I hope you will bear this delay with me.

Customize GIMP by hacking the GIMP Splash Screen

This is a trick i discovered by myself out of interest since i'm a GIMP fan, but a simple search had revealed that this trick has in fact been taught by others. Anyway, today i'll tell you how to change or in a professional-looking term, hack, the GIMP splash screen.

For those not being friends with GIMP, i must first show you how its splash screen looks like:

Now after doing some hacking you can get it to look extremely small like this:

Or this, which is the optimum size:

Or even large-sized Splash Screen, so gigantic, it even exceeds my monitor screen!

So how do we customize the Splash Screen? It's easy. Just navigate to the 'images' folder located in C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\images and identify the splash image 'gimp-splash'. Delete the image (make a backup if you intend to re-use the default splash screen) and replace it with some other PNG-extension image which are renamed to 'gimp-splash' (this is important, because GIMP only recognize a splash screen by this name). If there is something wrong with your hack, GIMP will start without the splash screen.

To enhance the customization experience, it is best for you to use an image which is at the original splash screen's default image size, 275x400. If you are good in graphic editing and image creations with Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET or other image editing tools, you can even create a custom GIMP splash screen with the GIMP logo on it!

Note: Do not worry that this customization will damage GIMP. The startup splash screen is intended to create some sign of activities for users of GIMP, so that users will know what is loading in the background; GIMP will work fine regardless of whether the splash screen is there or not!

Bring the Windows 7 Gadget Feature to XP and Vista with Thoosje Sevenbar

If i remember correctly, i used to share in my blog nearly a year ago about Thoosje Sidebar, a cool freeware where users get to either add a Windows Sidebar to XP or replace the default Sidebar in Windows Vista. That being said, now that Windows 7 is available in retail outlets, users might be desperate to have Windows 7's gadget platform instead of Sidebar on their machine.

It happens so that Thoosje had developed a new freeware named Thoosje Sevenbar way back in late August 2009, even before the official launch of Windows 7. Thi little freeware runs best on Windows XP, Vista and 7, though i think we'd pass on using it on Windows 7 as its functionality with Thoosje's are nearly the same. Like the default Windows 7 gadget platform, Thoosje Sevenbar allows users to place gadgets everywhere on the desktop and meanwhile, eliminating the Sidebar Toggle feature used in the default Vista Sidebar and the old Thoosje Sidebar (where users can toggle the sidebar to show hidden gadgets). Other than that, Thoosje Sevenbar runs just like good old Thoosje Sidebar.

Thoosje Sevenbar's Gadgets Properties, showing more gadgets compared to the older Thoosje Sidebar

According to Thoosje.com, the new Sevenbar uses 50% less memory and runs faster than the default Sidebar. In the process of writing this post, i downloaded and tested the Thoosje Sevenbar and Thoosje are not lying about these claimed features. Thoosje Sevenbar uses extremely less memory if compared to the older Thoosje Sidebar, while it actually runs as fast as the default Windows 7 gadget platform, and run much faster than the default Vista Sidebar. But i am slightly disappointed to learn that Sevenbar is quite taxing on user's CPU; a problem Thoosje never solve since the Thoosje Sidebar days.

Extreme Contrast: Thoosje Sevenbar uses less memory than the older Thoosje Sidebar, but the CPU utilization is quite high

All in all, this freeware customization tool is still a nice alternative for users with a PC with powerful CPU speed searching for replacements to their Sidebar.

Download Thoosje Sevenbar now, or visit their official Sevenbar site for more information.

Free Full Versions: 17 New Ashampoo Software

Update: There are some new download links of new software given below which were not available earlier. I updated the old article and reposting it. So that you who missed earlier can get the missing software.

Two of my recent article Get Free Avanquest Software Promotions (Total 36) and Get Free VirtualDrive Home 11.8 + PC Shower 2009 + Nitro PDF 5 + ArtStudioPro Vol.2 has told a trick how I can find promos, from such big vendors, which are UNTOLD. The same trick worked with Ashampoo'spromos, too.

The matter is Ashampoo's promos are not secret any more. There are many sites which offer Ashampoobranded software free of cost. Almost everyAshampoo's software available free of cost. The headache is you have to visit different sites to search these software or if you are bit tricky, you can play a small trick with anyAshampoo's promo URL and can reveal many otherpromos. I did this and found many new links ofAshampoo's promos. Simply, compare two URLs and you will know what I am talking about.

Some bloggers have already found many promos butthe links which I will share are not disclosed before. Nobody has shared these links before. You can also find new links if you make different combination of four digits, which are at the end of every URL, and try them.

Grab It:

On every promo you need to provide your email. You need to copy and paste each URL into your browser to open that URL.

Classic Windows Start Menu get back the old Start Menu for Vista & 7 Users.

After a 3-week leave for preparing my exams, finally i'm back and ready to rock. Well, the first thing i did when i get back on working out post is to browse the web and i immediately come across this little tool developed by an independant software writer known as SourceCodeBoy. This tool is called Classic Windows Start Menu...

Which leads us to a question for those Vista and 7 users: do you miss the old way how Start Menu works in Windows XP? In Windows Vista and 7, Microsoft had eliminated the old way Start Menu had worked since Windows 95 and of course, nowadays Start Menu is just designed to work under one single column in Vista and 7, so we are unlikely to get the old Start Menu back....or is it?

Apparently Classic Windows Start Menu can help get that back for you. What the tool does is basically recover the Windows XP classic menu for Windows Vista and Windows 7, without sacrificing the AeroGlass effects that are so tightly binded with Vista and 7 (with that, i mean glass and transparency). The result is a pretty clean-cut Start Menu which expands as you dive deeper, as shown in the image below:

Once executed, this tool will launch a Windows XP-style menu that you can call in the same ways you used to do before: Win key, Ctrl+Esc or clicking left mouse button on the Windows logo; if you click right button, the application will ask you to exit.

ClassicWinStartMenu updates menus every time, and shows you the last installed applications but, unfortunately, has not the drag & drop feature to add, remove, rename or sort items: You can do these on the original menu, and changes will be reflected into your new menu, except on sorting which might be solved in future releases.

Another fine feature for this little application is that for advanced users who loves to customize their desktop, Classic Windows Start Menu can be easily modified in terms of display languages, button iamges and even the left ribbon on the Start Menu; all you need is just some knowledge in script-editing!

If you miss the old Start Menu, why don't give this a try? This application is currently available as a freeware under the GNU public license terms.

Download Classic Windows Start Menu now (available as a .zip file)!

Freewares From the Aviassin Project!

I have been thinking for a long time whether I should just handpick one of Aviassin’s software to write on, but later decided that it would be appropriate to mention all software, since all software are interesting, plus Aviassin is an open freeware project, meaning that all levels of users can participate in the development of these software.

The Aviassin Project is actually a team of software developers dedicating themselves to creating innovative new software free for use, simply because they, like us, hate big companies charging software that should be free. The development team stressed that no spywares and adwares are bundled with their products, which I deemed quite true after trying all their software myself, and they also stated that they will continue developing new software apart from their current software projects.

Here is a list of their currently available and developing software:

1.    Superbar Savior

Superbar Saviour is a small application for Windows 7 which aims to fix issues or enhance functionality of the current Windows 7 Superbar. It can be used with the taskbar on any side of the screen and with any taskbar size. Only a tiny amount of RAM & CPU power is used, so it will not noticeably affect PC performance while open. Users can do a lot of things with Superbar Savior, for example, middle-clicking to close windows, double-click on Superbar window to open similar window and drop files on Superbar icon to open them.
Superbar Savior works with all version of Windows 7, including the Beta and RC release version.

2.    iPhone Drift

iPhone Drift is a web browser emulating the looks of an Apple iPhone. This is a great news for users who loves Apple’s flagship products. Users can easily browse the web, check out how the web page will look like on a real iPhone and many more interesting iPhone-like features, such as rotating the web browser to view it in landscape or portrait mode, use Google Maps and Youtube on its homepage screen and many more.
iPhone Drift comes at a small file size with less than 1MB installation package, plus it works on Windows XP, Vista and 7. Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 is required to run this software.

3.    Taskbar Eliminator

Aviassin Taskbar Eliminator is a great utility which will simply and efficiently remove the taskbar from Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7.

With just the click of a button or a hotkey, the taskbar is disabled from any side of the screen, providing the freedom to use any dock application, increase local computer security, or allow all sorts of Windows customizations. The taskbar can be toggled on and off in real-time, providing the flexibility to quickly view the taskbar to perform an action.

The application interface is simple and easy to understand, allowing it to be used by even the most novices of users. Simply press and hold Control+Alt+T to bring up the Preferences window, from which all options can be adjusted. Press and hold Alt + T to immediately show or hide the taskbar directly. It can also be set to run during Windows startup so users can hide it immediately when the log in to their desktops.

4.    iCalcy

Another good software for Apple fans who uses Windows: iCalcy looks and acts exactly the same as the iPhone 3G or iPod Touch calculator does, allowing you to perform all standard calculator operations on Windows. iCalcy is a standalone application, meaning that it is portable and so, users don’t have to install it to use it!

You can rotate iCalcy into either portrait or landscape orientation, just like an iPhone. Scientific calculation functions are not available, though the team promised that it will be added in later version. Until then, Vista and 7 users wanting scientific calculators are better off with the Windows Calculator.

5.    Edgeswap

Aviassin EdgeSwap is a task-switcher for Windows, allowing you to switch between windows simply by moving your cursor to the top left edge of the screen. This creates an entirely unique Windows experience, allowing users to move effortlessly and quickly between their open programs. When in use with Windows Vista or Windows 7, EdgeSwap displays live thumbnail images to choose between open windows, and shows application icons in Windows XP.

Just hold your mouse cursor in the top left edge of the screen until the window you wish to open is highlighted, then move your cursor away to open that window.

6.    PaintRibbon

Aviassin Paintribbon is a third-party drawing and application for Windows which imitates the Windows 7 Paint interface, utilizing the ribbon interface first seen in Office 2007. Like Windows 7’s Paint, Paintribbon offers users all the basic drawing capabilities including various shapes (line, circle, square and star shapes), different line widths, a variety of fill and stroke colour options plus the ability to move drawn shapes.

Paintribbon however, has a few issues that need to be ironed out. Currently the 0.1.5 version of Paintribbon can only open and save .pic (pict) image files, although it is stated that additional file types will be supported in later releases. All buttons present in the ribbon in Windows 7 Paint are displayed in paintribbon so as to replicate the interface, however only a limited number of buttons are fully functional in version 0.1.5.
PaintRibbon works on Windows XP, Vista and 7. Microsoft .NET Framework is required to run the software.

Aviassin Development Team had also opened a forum at their site to encourage user feedbacks and bug report. Currently, my favourite Aviassin software is Edgeswap which I find more convenient than the ALT+ TAB function, especially if my hands are not on the keyboard. All in all, I like where all this team’s software is heading and wish the Aviassin Project a healthy and innovative future!

Visit the Aviassin Project website and download your favourite freeware of theirs!

Murgee Logon Controller: A Logon Bockground-Changer Compatible With Both Windows Vista & 7

Some users are interested in customizing their PC up and down, which includes the logon screen as well. For users not knowing this technical term, logon screen refers to the background image displayed where you logon to your computer during the final part of a Windows startup. The Logon background is displayed regardless of whether your computer is configured to auto logon or not.

I used to share two posts on two different logon screen changers, LogonStudio Vista and Tweaks.com Logon Changer.  While both are fully functional, both have their own limitations. For LogonStudio Vista, it is capable of running with both Vista and 7, but in order to make some of its functions work on 7, you’ll need to do adjustments on its compatibility. Tweaks.com Logon Changer works just perfectly on Windows 7 (with the additional benefit of not tampering with the digital signatures of Windows 7’s system files), but the problem is it is not designed to run on Vista.

These issues with the two separate logon tools forced me to go out in search for another working and more flexible Logon Changer and mercifully, I came across a really nice one after a full month of search.

Murgee Logon Controller is another logon screen changer like LogonStudio Vista and Tweaks.com Logon Changer, but it works on both Vista and 7 without experiencing any compatibility issues. The software can be used to change Windows 7 or Vista Logon background by selecting default background images from your computer hard disk. The Logon Background can also be specified by browsing to an external image file (bmp, jpg etc.). As the Logon Background is shared by other users of the computer, the software download would require admin rights to run and change the background image of the login screen.

The software is easy to use, with a ribbon interface in place and only two tabs present due to its rather few functions. Users can customize the interface colour by clicking on the large Start button and browse through various picture folders specified. To verify that a logon screen has been changed, users are required to logoff to view the changes. The only problem is its slightly lagging reaction while browsing for folders with images, but that is no serious bug.

Murgee Logon Controller is now one of my favourite logon background changer because of its stability and flexibility between Vista and 7. It is highly recommended to everyone.
