In The News: Apple iPad Captured .04% of Browser Market Share

Even before its launch in the US, the latest offering from Apple Inc. has already hit the headlines; people are talking about its beauty, its Wi-Fi and 3GS capability, its sleek and modern design and its feature lineup which surpasses the Apple iPhone. So successful was this new baby, that Apple was forced to delay worldwide launch of iPad by a month due to strong U.S demand and limited iPad supply. This caused annoyance among worldwide fans but hey, it wouldn't matter much, just as how Israel banned Apple iPad to protect its wireless network does not affect anything; Apple had already sold massive amount of units in the U.S alone and the iPad hype just continued...


iPad even made headlines most recently with its browser market share. Just a mere 10 days off from its launch in the U.S, NetApplications' data is already reporting that iPad captured some 0.04% of browser market share; the numbers even rivaled those of Windows Mobile, Android and Blackberry.

  
Apple's mobile products literally still dominate the mobile browsing scene, even if iPad isn't in there to mix things up. iPhone recorded a 0.51% market share, while iPod touch comes in at 0.11%.  However, with iPad going so strong barely a few days into its launch, i guess we can expect a massive shake in the browser market share pretty soon...shall i guess, three months? Some people may suggest that iPad had been successful thus far due to initial launch hype, but remember, that amount was in the U.S alone, with full-featured iPad yet to come and another worldwide launch yet to happen.


All i can say for now is: iPad, you really got the right stuffs in you!

I could not post in recent few days. The reason was busyness and illness. I am suffering bad cough. Let's see when medicines will effect me. BTW, during this time, I was planning for my near coming short period of future. If you are looking for something very fancy and colorful with useless colorful and fancy illustrations, stop here, this is not for you. But, if you are looking for a mind mapping software which is handy to use, easy to understand and following Usability and Accessibility rules, yes, this is for you: FreeMind.

It has just two panels; one at top and the other is at left side. Of course, there is main menu to operate FreeMind to it full extent. You can use it in your studies, projects, brainstorming, business, events, decision making, planning, and just for fun, too.

Weak spots:

• The support of pictures in nodes is in preliminary stage. When you want to carry a map around with you, you have to take care that you take the image files with you.
• FreeMind is basically one user application. Although users can in principle work on the same map, there is only preliminary locking mechanism to prevent conflicts, at the time, switched off by default.
• In rare cases, following of HTML links in the web browser does not work on some computers; the same holds for opening local files.
• Limited support for fancy graphics.

In The News: Steve Jobs To Take A Sabbatical

The Apple CEO's health problems are "more complex than [he] originally thought," so today, Tim Cook will be placed in control as Jobs takes a medical leave of absence.

Last Week, Apple CEO Steve Jobs released an uncharacteristic statement to the public regarding his health, and addressing speculation about why he would not be appearing at Macworld.

Jobs said his health condition was attributable to a hormone imbalance which his doctors said could be treated. He also said that if he was unable to fulfill his duties, he would be stepping down as CEO.

Today, Jobs issued a further statement that he may be doing just that.

"Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family," reads Jobs' statement this afternoon, "but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

"In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products," Jobs continued, "I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June."

Jobs assigned Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook to handle day to day operation, just as he had done in 2004 when Jobs had surgery for pancreatic cancer.

Apple's Mac OSX has grown strong in recent years not only due to the blunder Microsoft had with Windows Vista (even though in my opinion, it significantly improved after the release of Service Pack 1), but with the way Jobs have managed the operation of the company. A few months back, Apple lost a chunk of its market stock when rumors persists that Steve Jobs is seriously ill to the extent that he might pass away (the rumors has sinced been quashed). Even with the sort of form Apple currently had over Microsoft, Apple's market may deteriotate had they lose Steve Jobs on any sort of occasion.

I am neither supportive nor critical of Apple Inc & its products, but then without their persistent existence and current edge of the consumer market over Microsoft, Windows 7 wouldn't have shape out in the right way it should have with Vista (as of the current beta stage).
