A Tour of the New F-Secure Internet Security 2010
I can summarize what i made of F-Secure antivirus in one pretty go:
F-Secure is a Scandinavian-based antivirus company, previously a part of FRISK. Its solutions are famous across the European nations, especially in its home, Finland. However, people living in my place rarely or never heard of this antivirus, let alone use them. To me, this antivirus is notoriously remembered for running multiple processes. It has an outdated user interface and annoyingly problematic update module (a bit like Avira's). Scanning is fast and furious, and features are pretty complete. But is it working?
In short, i'm doubting the potential of this antivirus...
Well, at least that was what i think until they release the latest version of their 2010 security suite.
I just want to say that F-Secure did a fairly good job on this new version. The new 2010 Internet Security spots a very impressive overhaul of the user interface, possess very fast installation process and very responsive compared to previous versions (even when on a virtual machine). Coupled with their previous positives on light-fast scanning speed and complete features, this new jewel of F-Secure seems to have changed my mind about their offerings.
However, I still don't like the way its update module works. And how about its detection rate? Surely it can catch those malwares with big names and big fame, or else it wouldn't have passed those VB100 security tests in recent years, but how about those relatively minor & unknown malware which is often overlooked by some security companies and are potentially harmful? It worked effectively, but does it work efficiently?
Regardless, i salute F-Secure for doing a solid job; at least they seemed to have taken a big step in the right direction.

What is your comment on this antivirus?
2 opinion:
Nice article. I always like personal reviews of software instead of pure technical explanations which pass 100 miles away from many heads. Once my teacher told me, if you want to make it understand to others what you are saying, you should have same mentality.
By the way, I like the contents on your blog. ;-)
I'm glad you approve, Techgeek. It is nice to get praise from one of those bloggers which blogs inspired mine!
