Announcements:

I am currently writing at Computelogy.com actively and that's why i sort of abandoned my own tech blog. Since i am too busy to be taking care of both sides, i guess this blog will go into hibernation for a very very long time. Regrettable, but then it's hard to come up with new posts & stuffs.

So once again, i am now writing actively at Computelogy. Feel free to visit there and enjoy our latest articles and posts!

Beta-Test the Upcoming Kaspersky Total Security 2010

Kaspersky is a nice security software in the paid-for area; If you want to buy a security software instead of using the free ones, Kaspersky is one of your best choices. As with the security trend nowadays, most companies combine a large bundle of security features into one and sell it under the name 'Total Security' or 'Security Suite', as what BitDefender and McAfee had obviously done. Kaspersky is now following the trend with their upcoming Kaspersky Total Security 2010.

Without being too story-winded, here's the list of features under the Kaspersky Total Security banner:

Information security- backup, encryption, virtual keyboard, password manager
  • Backup copy- A tool for managing the backup of user files
  • Data encryption- The creation of secure containers for storage of confidential data.
  • Password manager-Secure storage and auto-complete for logins/passwords.
  • Virtual keyboard (function ported from KIS)- tool for safe entry of text (to bypass trojans/keyloggers)
Extra functionality- Remote management, system tune up, vulnerability scan, AVZ scripts, rescue disk, antispam.
  • Remote management- Component, which allows the remote management of KTS.
  • System tune up- New feature of KTS, which allows the detection of potentially dangerous system parameters (e.g. Removable drive autorun) and fix them.
  • Vulnerability scan & AVZ scripts- Irregularities in vulnerability scanner and AVZ wizards. Vulnerability scan has been separated from full system scan into a separate task. Detected vulnerabilities are visible in the detected threats section.
  • Rescue Disk- Scans the pc from a bootable disk with downloaded KTS. Please focus on hardware compatibility and component operation.
The download file size was rather huge at 90MB, but it is worth the download, because it appears that KTS 2010 is a pretty solid and stable beta software. It installs fast and smoothly, starts up silently and it still looks as amazing as usual. I attached on this post, some screenshots captured during my brief testing:

For fans of Kaspersky and beta tester, Kaspersky Total Security is worth the attention. Since it is in beta stage, users don't have to pay anything to use it; just activate the beta keys after every 30-days period and you can keep on testing/using it!
