I am currently writing at Computelogy.com actively and that's why i sort of abandoned my own tech blog. Since i am too busy to be taking care of both sides, i guess this blog will go into hibernation for a very very long time. Regrettable, but then it's hard to come up with new posts & stuffs.

So once again, i am now writing actively at Computelogy. Feel free to visit there and enjoy our latest articles and posts!

WindowBlinds 7: Now supporting Windows 7

I remember clearly some three years ago when i'm stuck with my Windows XP. I simply love the Windows Aero beauty of Windows Vista very much back then, but then i could not afford to switch to Vista myself, with all those complaints of Vista & a reluctance for purchasing the operating system just for the user interface. However, i am not such a geek in computering myself back then and i had little idea to what software could help me achieve the wish of having a Vista Aero on XP.

A friend of mine heard my wish, and thus introduced me to Stardock's Windowblinds for the first time. Ever since then, I fall in love with that product and currently still is even after moving on to Vista and then Windows 7 as of now.

For those not familiar with this flagship product of Stardock, WindowBlinds is an application which allows users of Windows XP, Vista & newly-supported Windows 7 to run various different themes for their desktop, creating a more customizable & user-centric desktop environment with a different look & feel. We call those custom-made skins as 'WindowBlinds Skins'. On Windows XP, these themes work in conjunction with the Lunar theme. On Vista and 7, these themes work in conjunction with the Aero themes.

As of today, WindowBlinds 7 is in its second beta test, with new features such as:
  • Live previews. See the changes you make in settings in real-time
  • Completely new user interface which includes grab-and-throw scrolling, reflections, and a simpler layout.
  • Improved Windows 7 support
  • Improved skin (theme) coloring
  • Improved sub-style selections, and skin search
To understand just how WindowBlinds 7 works as of its current beta, you can view this Flash video.

WindowBlinds 7 beta 2 can be downloaded currently through Stardock Impulse, the distribution software of Stardock. However, only ObjectDock subscribers are eligible for the download. The good news is, if you purchase a copy of WindowBlinds 6, which is the soon-to-be predecessor to WindowBlinds 7, you will be given the privilege of upgrading to WindowBlinds 7 free of charge when it is released!

Visit Stardock WindowBlinds's official website for more information.
