Trend Micro's Beta Portal recently issued a new beta program known as the Trend Micro Security Beta Test. Trend Micro Security is essentially Trend Micro's answer to cloud security, just as Panda Security is with their Panda Cloud Security. More importantly, it is designed to give users effective protection using minimal system resources.

Here are some of the features described by Trend Micro:

  • Anti-Virus
  • Anti-Spyware
• File Cleaning
• Protection Reporting
• Minimal Memory and Storage Requirements
• Maximum Performance

Trend Micro Security Beta works with 32-bit of Windows XP & both the 32-bit & 64-bit of Windows Vista & Windows 7. The Windows Starter version of Vista is not supported, though. In addition to that, Trend Micro urges users who are still running Internet Explorer 6 to upgrade to at least Internet Explorer 7 & above in order to beta-test the security software.

As a surprise, Trend Micro will also be dishing out some rewards for testers who participate in the beta program. The first 300 testers to register for testing and finish the online test scripts will receive a FREE 1-Year Trend Micro Security license key at the end of the beta test. If you're not amongst the first 300 testers to finish the test scripts, you are still lucky enough to be in drawing competition for some other magnificent prizes which includes:

1. An Apple iPod Shuffle
2. A USB Hard Drive
3. Other Special Prizes

Another interesting reward is that the users who submitted the most critical bug to Trend Micro will receive an 8GB Apple iPod Nano. Also, the testers with the most number of referrals will similarly win a special prize.
