I am currently writing at Computelogy.com actively and that's why i sort of abandoned my own tech blog. Since i am too busy to be taking care of both sides, i guess this blog will go into hibernation for a very very long time. Regrettable, but then it's hard to come up with new posts & stuffs.

So once again, i am now writing actively at Computelogy. Feel free to visit there and enjoy our latest articles and posts!

Useful IT Practice: CTRL+S (Save!!!!!)

The most frustrating thing for a Microsoft Office application user is to have a hard-worked piece of document totally wiped out. The reason can be many; a sudden blackout which cut out the PC's power source, hardware failure of the PCs, accidental deletion of the file....even spilling your morning coffee over your laptop is a possible reason.

Blackout will always be a desktop user's nightmare whenever they are working on something important.

The fact is: you'll need to redo everything all over again, which is a frustrating process. Needless to say, in the worst case scenario where your document has gone within your grasp at the eleventh hour, you might not be able to redo the document in time and therefore, got fired from your job or got a big zero mark for your assignment. Sounds painful, isn't it?

Here's a solution to your problem, and it's pretty much simple, providing that you can master the habit/practice: just press 'CTRL+S' everytime!

CTRL+S is a default Microsoft Windows combination shortcut key for 'save'. Like its namesake, it virtually deals with the task of saving anything on your PCs. And it is a very important element in your office tasks! Every one minute after you worked on your documents, just press the combination key and voila! You don't have to worry about unforeseen consequences anymore! It's that simple! You just have to make it a habit.

Another useful thing about this combination shortcut key is that it is there for your convenience! Remember your begginer days when you only know that to save a document is to access the 'File' toolbar and select 'Save'? My advice is: ditch that old practise today unless you can help it! CTRL+S keeps your hand on the keyboard and thus its execution is much faster than using a mouse to access the toolbar or pressing any 'save' button! Imagine that a second or two after you pressed the CTRL+S keys to save your document, a blackout occurs. Had you been using the mouse to access the toolbar, the one-or-two second delay might even cost you that precious piece of document!

Do not hesitate anymore, and start making the "CTRL+S - pressing" a habit! It can save you time and embarassment, trust me!
